TiNi’s 2 Way Actuator is used as a generic means to push and pull an output Pin in opposite directions. This may be used for functions ranging from Optical Shutters which can Open and Close on demand, to Fail Safe Actuators that require input to enable (or disable) a mechanical system.

TINI 2 WAY OPTICAL SHUTTERS OFFER THE FOLLOWING ADVANTAGES:

NEA (Non-Explosive Actuators)
 – As with all TiNi products, our 2 way shutters are non-pyrotechnic.

2 –Way Actuation – TiNi 2 way shutters are unique in that they provide Push Pull motion in both directions. Furthermore, the output force and stroke (in each direction) may be customized to suit the application.

Position Lock – A powerful detent is incorporated which locks the output Pin at the end of travel without the need for power. This is sufficiently strong as to endure all typical launch shock and vibration loads.

Redundant Firing Circuit – 
As with all TiNi Actuators a redundant electrical circuit is incorporated to help ensure maximum reliability.

Fast Acting – By adjusting the current that is passed through the SMA element, TiNi 2 way shutters can be made to perform in millisecond time frame or conversely to provide slow and gentle motion.

Auto Shut-Off Switches – Simple Auto Shut Off Switches are incorporated into each ERM to protect the TiNi Trigger. This makes them very “user friendly” and operable from a wide range of current and voltages.

2-WAY OPTICAL SHUTTER SPS-4690

The SPS-4690 uses TiNi’s Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) trigger mechanism to control the shutter gate and open or close the aperture.  It can be operated with as little as 0.6 Amps of current.
