TiNi™ Subsea Ejector Mechanism

High Load Holding Capability and Fast Actuation Time

The EBAD Subsea Ejector Release Mechanism (ERM) includes a Pressure Balanced and Oil Filled (PBOF) enclosure such that it can operate directly in Sea water at high pressure. It has been successfully used in many deep ocean applications to deploy critical instruments from various manned and unmanned submarines.

NEA (Non-Explosive Actuators) – As with all EBAD products, the ERM is non-pyrotechnic and field reset-able with a minimum qualified life of 50 cycles.

Rated to High Pressure – All Subsea ERMs incorporate a PBOF enclosure such that they can be used directly in sea water. All materials used have been selected to minimize corrosion and need for shipboard maintenance.

Field Reset-able and Reliable – The ERM can be reset within seconds while still attached to the structure via a simple tool provided by EBAD.

Redundant Firing Circuit – As with all EBAD Actuators a redundant SMA circuit is incorporated. This provides complete electrical redundancy as well as mechanical redundancy for the critical trigger element.

Fast Acting – All EBAD ERMs can be actuated with a standard pyro pulse of only 25 milliseconds or less.

Auto Shut-Off Switches – Simple Auto Shut Off Switches are incorporated into each ERM to protect the Trigger. This makes them very “user friendly” and operable from a wide range of current and voltages.

Subsea ERM Options

The EBAD ERM-4000PBOF (Ejector Release Mechanism) is an effective way to support and release many subsea deployables. The 7/16” size attaching screw can be preloaded into the coupler to generate 4000 lbf (17800N) of preload. The ERM is simple to use and easy to reset and offers the same key attributes as all of our products including:

Features:

    • Non Pyrotechnic and Field Reset-able
    • Redundant Firing Circuit,
    • Maximum Reliability Thru
      • Design Simplicity
      • Pedigree, and
      • Testability

Reset Tools

All EBAD TiNi™ standard ERMs are rated for a minimum life of 50 actuation and reset cycles. For continued testing, EBAD provides reset tools of various shapes and designs. In some cases, customers require custom reset tools to accommodate space constraints. These can be readily designed and manufactured to suit application needs.

Standard ERM reset tools come in two basic designs – A bottle opener style with folding arms and a basic jackscrew type that is turned using a “T” handle or torque wrench via a hex head. The table below provides a list of reset tools for each of our standard ERMs.
